Yoga – ancient wisdom for a modern life

More than 2,000 years ago, the Indian sage Patanjali gathered the core of yoga into a brief and timeless work, the Yoga Sutras. The text is not about stretching and flexibility. It is about how a human being can find peace of mind, live with clarity, and transform from within. The questions are the same today: How do I live well with myself and with others?
In the lecture, I introduce the eight limbs of yoga, which Patanjali described as a path from outer life toward inner freedom. I delve deep into the first two limbs, yamas and niyamas, which are the ethical foundation of yoga.
Yamas are about how we meet the world around us.
Niyamas are about how we meet ourselves.
These are universal, human principles that make sense regardless of belief, age, and life situation. Therefore, anyone can participate without knowing the philosophy of yoga and without having practiced yoga before. With down-to-earth examples from my own practice and many years as a yoga teacher, I show how this ancient wisdom can be used in daily life, at work, and in our relationships. Feel free to bring a notebook for your reflections.
